Settling in – First Post from New Blog Home

Welcome!

Hopefully, if you’re a regular reader of the blog and you’re reading this now (Friday, June 22 in the am), then you’ve found us again – or your email subscription was transferred smoothly – or  your subscription through Networkedblogs transferred.

Obviously,  it’s hard to get feedback from folks who aren’t getting blog alerts – but please check the new format.  Explore the NDY site – and let us know what you think.

WordPress seems pretty easy to adapt to so far.  We’ll all know better in the next blog post.

That’s when I’ll get to more content-oriented writing again.  For now, though.  Please check this out and let us know if things are working OK for you in this format or if something isn’t working as well as it used to.

That’s all for now.  More tomorrow.

  1. So far the only difference is that your entire blog is sent to my e-mail address instead of just the first few lines. The click over to your site is as easy to do as it ever was, and the new site looks awesome.

  2. The way to find NDY blog is difficult:i.e. the need to click on “Activities” to have a drop down box with blog. I had great difficulty finding it. I get the sub but had to change email addresses. Also difficult. I say it because I know that I am never the “only one” for anything. I suspect the number of comments as compared to the old version of direct access to the blog may give an answer to my hypothesis.

My point: I am so glad I am involved with this blog as a homebound person with severe disabling illness: ME/CFS with allergic asthma on top. There are only about 3 places where I comment and this is one.

    1. Sanda, I’m still getting used to the site layout myself. Believe me, I do not have the skills to do anything remotely like this site design. We originally switched to blogging simply because website management was beyond me.

Please keep me/us informed of access issues. I’ll see if we can do something about that. –Stephen

      1. My confusions Stephen. I just went to the new webpage and see that the blog now has its own listing on the bar across the top. I am glad I checked before cutting and pasting new Report to Artists with the hint to go to “Activities” box and drop down to find blog. Sorry to bother you, but I’m never “the only one” ….

        1. No confusion at all on your part. The listing of the blog on the bar across the top is new – and a direct result of your input. I expect it will make it easier for many people besides you – because you are almost certainly not the only one who found the original format problematic – just the only one who mentioned it. 🙂

  3. Link through email worked fine. Attractive layout. One suggestion: Realign “splashes” that read Or may read “What does…,” “Media Center and Related link, as the text is cut-off even with browser window maximied.

    1. Hi Kendall!

I was thinking of you last week, and hoping the shunt issues went OK.

I’m told that the techies here have already been in contact with you and they’re trying to figure out the issue.

Thanks for reading and commenting – it’s great to hear from you for any reason. 🙂 –Stephen

    1. Hi Dave!

Thanks for the compliments, but they’re misplaced. About 15 or 16 years ago, I knew more about doing html than anyone in my immediate circle at Syracuse university.
It’s 2012 now and I am a complete dolt when it comes to constructing website, although I am capable of pushing the appropriate buttons with proper and detailed instruction.

We’re working with a professional web designer – and it shows. 🙂 –Stephen

  4. Stephen — It looks just beautiful!

I love “the resistance”, even if it gives me a little shiver as I think ahead to possible futures.

    Count me in.
